Narilatha: Fruit That Looks Like a Woman


Close on the heels of Nariphon tree or the Makaliphon tree from the Buddhist mythology that bears woman shaped flowers, here comes Narilatha flower plant that bears flowers that closely resemble a naked woman. Narilatha is a rare flower and is said to grow in the Indian Himalayas. It blooms at an interval of 20 years. Botanically speaking, the plant belongs to the orchid family of Orchidaceae under the Habenaria genus.

Narilatha plant is also said to be found in Thailand where it is known by its local name, Nareepol.
